World Rally Cars celebrated in Finnish style at Shelsley Walsh

As part of Classic Nostalgia’s celebrations over the weekend, the World Rally Car was suitably recognised as Kristian Sohlberg took best time of day in class in the Lancer WRC04 at the Shelsley Walsh Hill Climb.

The former works Mitsubishi driver flew over from Finland for the Saturday activities and very soon got to grips with the famous Shelsley Walsh Hill Climb posting what would have been fastest time of the day overall in the Mitsubishi Lancer but was pipped in the dying moments of the day by 0.10 seconds.

Other cars in action were the Ford Focus with David Wright who really attacked the hill in tremendous style, often having the spectators on the edges of their seats as he threw it into Bottom Ess and Top Ess, both ninety degree bends and often on three wheels.

He was not the only one giving it a go in the WRC class, Niall Moroney flew up the hill in the ex Colin McRae Subaru, with Graham Butler in the ex Carlos Sainz Ford Escort Cosworth and Gordon Winning in another Escort Cosworth chasing hard.

All the drivers had a great time and commented on what a superb event Classic Nostalgia was and how much they enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere.

The crowds certainly enjoyed the show and the Marshals were kept busy sweeping the track!
