The AmDTuning.com with Cobra Exhausts team will aim to impress this weekend when the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship heads for Silverstone for the penultimate round of the season.

The West Thurrock-based team has established itself as a regular contender for points this season, with drivers Ollie Jackson and Ant Whorton-Eales both showing top ten pace in the ever-improving Audi S3.

Tamworth-based Ollie goes into the Silverstone weekend on the back of a solid performance last time out at Rockingham, where he picked up points in all three races to maintain a top ten position in the Independents’ championship standings.

Ollie scored points in the corresponding meeting last season and will set a personal best of four straight points scoring finishes with the Audi if he can bring home a top 15 finish in the opening race of the weekend.

“I’m really looking forward to the weekend,” he said. “We were able to learn a few things at Rockingham last time out and have made a few tweaks to the car for Silverstone, where I am expecting it to be strong.

“I certainly feel that, like Rockingham, we should be right in the mix for points throughout the weekend, although the close nature of the field and the fact that the lap is quite short and there will be traffic to deal with means we’ll also need to have luck on our side.

“The top ten is certainly the target and if we can get into a position to challenge for the reverse grid in race three then maybe we could pick up a really good result.”

Team-mate Ant endured a challenging weekend at Rockingham, with the Lichfield racer showing front-running speed but failing to score after getting caught up in incidents in two of the three races.

Ant has a strong record around the Silverstone National Circuit however, with three wins in the last two seasons whilst competing in the Renault Clio Cup – including a double success last year en-route to the title.

The BTCC rookie will hope to impress again this weekend whilst also challenging for the results that his pace thus far has deserved.

“Rockingham was a tough weekend in terms of the end result but there’s no doubt that the car was quick – things just went against me,” he said. “I’m putting that behind me though, and I’m confident that I can challenge for some good points finishes when we get to Silverstone.

“The circuit should suit the Audi, particularly with a few things we found at Rockingham, and I want to stay out of trouble and push for three decent points scoring finishes.

“A rookie win and a top ten finish would be the icing on the cake, and it’s certainly achievable.”

Team boss Shaun Hollamby meanwhile insisted that he felt both drivers could aim high at Silverstone as the team looks to end the year on a high.

“I feel very positive going into Silverstone,” he said. “We’ve been knocking on the door of a great result for a while now, and I think that both Ollie and Ant have shown that they have the pace to be on the podium if things were to fall our way.

“We’ve shown we can challenge for the top ten and score points, and to get onto the podium with the Audi has to be the new aim – hopefully before the end of the season.

“Silverstone should suit the car and having learned a lot again at Rockingham, I’m confident that - with the pace we have unlocked in the car - the guys can bring home some good results.”
