HSR and Peter Auto Announce Common Group C Class Technical Regulations and Rules

New Rules and Regulations to be in Place for the HSR Classic at Daytona International Speedway
Daytona and Sebring HSR Classics Suitable as "Qualifying Races" for Competitors Eyeing Future Participation in the Le Mans Classic

Officials from Historic Sportscar Racing (HSR) and Peter Auto have announced an exclusive partnership between the two leading historic auto racing governing bodies that will see both organizations adopt a common set of rules and regulations for the premier Group C category.

Commencing with this week's HSR Classic at Daytona presented by IMSA, November 8 - 12, at Daytona International Speedway, race cars in the popular Group C class will compete under the same technical specifications that are being adopted immediately by HSR and Peter Auto.

In addition the Classic at Daytona, HSR's sister Classic 12 Hour at Sebring, November 30 - December 3, at Sebring International Raceway, will also see Group C competitors compete under the uniform HSR/Peter Auto Group C regulations.

Participation in the Group C class in both the Daytona and Sebring races will fulfill the requirement that calls for competitors to have run two "qualifying" races prior to racing in the Le Mans Classic in 2018.

Owned and operated by Patrick Peter, Peter Auto has created many events for modern and classic cars in its home country of France and abroad. The list includes the Le Mans Classic, created in partnership with the ACO, that, like the Classic at Daytona, is a tribute event to the legendary 24 hour races that are run each year at Circuit de la Sarthe and Daytona International Speedway, respectively.

"Motor racing, should it be modern or historic, is often passion taking over reason," Peter said. "I have tried to combine them both and work with pleasure. The recipe for success is quite simple: a few ideas, enthusiasm, a natural sense of service, lots of work, without forgetting a major point and efficient and reliable staff. I am delighted that over thirty years, Peter Auto has earned itself a major place within motor racing."

The HSR Classic at Daytona will be run for the third time next month while the Classic 12 Hour at Sebring will celebrate its second annual running this December.

"We look forward to a successful and productive Group C technical partnership with Patrick Peter and everyone at Peter Auto," said HSR President David Hinton. "A common yet uncomplicated rules structure for this popular class should make it easier for competitors to compete in both HSR and Peter Auto events. It could also be the cornerstone of another chapter in the great history of the Group C category that will see competitors annually compete once again at Le Mans, Daytona, Sebring and other great circuits around the world in the same season."
