Rockingham Stages Rally season finale

THE Rockingham Stages return for an incredible 14th consecutive season next weekend (December 9/10) with the rally providing the traditional finale to a fantastic year of motorsport at the Northamptonshire circuit.

Joint organisers Thame Motorsport Club and Middlesex County Automobile Club utilise every inch of the venue, including the access roads, tunnels, pit lanes and paddock area as well as the in-field circuit and banked oval, to provide more than 90 miles of competitive motoring over 12 stages.

Six stages take place on Saturday, including the thrilling two evening stages run in the dark, which must be seen to be believed. With the remaining six stages taking place the following day. For those who don’t wish to take part in both days, the Sunday Trophy Rally offers six stages over 45 miles.

More than 90 crews have entered the challenging tarmac event, which has established itself as a firm favourite among the rallying fraternity and its loyal fan base, all of whom will be looking to add their names to the illustrious title.

With last season’s Rockingham Stages (Rhys Yates/Tom Woodburn) and Sunday Trophy Rally (Andrew Fenwick/Daniel May) winners missing from this year’s entry list, there’s guaranteed to be four new names engraved on the silverware.

A whole host of machines are taking part in this season’s rally with well-known manufacturers represented including Ford, Vauxhall, Citroen, Peugeot, Alfa Romeo, Nissan, Subaru, BMW, Mitsubishi, Morris and MG as well as the awesome Darrian.

Spectators can enjoy a great view of the stages from the Rockingham Grandstand and the pit garage roof, while everyone can warm up in the Skyline Suite. Hot food and drinks will be available from the Rockingham Diner. The Rally results will be available online at www.rockinghamstages.co.uk.

Advance tickets cost just £12 and can be booked online at www.rockingham.co.uk or via the hotline on 01536 500500, option 1, until midday Friday (December 8). Tickets will also be available on the gate priced £16. Under 16s get in free! The action starts at 11.30am on Saturday and 9am Sunday.
