BERWICK have confirmed the return of 2017 Rider of the Year Jye Etheridge to Shielfield Park next season.
The Bandits had already secured the signing of Etheridge as a full club asset from Edinburgh, and he made substantial gains on his average this year.
Co-promoter Scott Courtney said: “Jye impressed me with his performance in the 2016 Stars of Tomorrow meeting at Berwick, and I vividly remember thinking that anyone who gets up off the deck that many times and still gives it 100 per cent is made of tough stuff.
“Put that together with his talent, discipline and the correct environment, the results should come, and they certainly did come for Jye.
“Myself and my brother Jamie felt that we had to make the move to purchase him from the Monarchs and make him a fully-fledged asset, and we did so as soon as we committed to giving him his opportunity.
“I’m sure Jye has progression in mind for 2018 and we are excited to see him line up once again for the Bandits.”

KING’S Lynn are planning team announcements in the New Year – as part of a series of new initiatives at the Adrian Flux Arena next season.
The Stars are seeking to rebuild from a troubled 2017 campaign in which they finished two points off the foot of the SGB Premiership table, but promoter Keith Chapman says the club now has renewed energy for the future.
Chapman said: “We know that the committed fans will be observing the team announcements of our competitors and we do want to assure the King’s Lynn Stars fans that we too are well-placed with our options for 2018.
“You will see in January that the rider selection for 2018 is based on a much wider criteria than just their points average and personality.
“The riders that have already agreed in principle to join us are intrigued and excited by our new approach.”

SHEFFIELD have snapped up James Shanes to make his full-time debut at SGB Championship level next season.
Shanes rode in the top-flight for Poole in 2017 but did also play a part in the Tigers’ title success with match-winning performances as a guest in two away victories at Peterborough.
Co-promoter Damien Bates said: “We welcome James to Sheffield and we are confident he can do a good job.
“He’s got the ability and potential to score some valuable points for the team and he’s an important piece in the jigsaw. He’s also very keen.”
