2016 Ferrari F12tdf from the Michael Fux Collection on offer at Kissimmee

2016 Ferrari F12tdf from the Michael Fux Collection on offer at Kissimmee

Highly successful entrepreneur Michael Fux may very well be more famous for his massive collection of modern-day supercars than for his prosperous business ventures, even though the latter certainly deserves all the credit for the former. But for anyone passionate about cars, the discrepancy isn’t the least bit hard to understand when face-to-face with Fux’s awe-inspiring automotive spread.

Originally of Cuba, Fux and his family immigrated to the United States when he was a teenager, moving into a one-bedroom apartment on the seventh floor of a walk-up building—with no air conditioning. After graduating high school, Fux let his entrepreneurial spirit take hold of the steering wheel, and then he put the pedal to the metal. Fux founded several companies, most notably the mattress-makers Sleep Innovations and Comfort Revolution, and today he is a multimillionaire. The business of sleep has since allowed Fux to invest heavily in his true passions: philanthropy and supercars.

As the proud owner of more than 160 world-class vehicles, Fux isn’t shy about showing off his amazing autos. In fact, the Michael Fux Collection lives loudly on the social media site Instagram. The photo-sharing platform is perfect for Fux, and his page, humorously titled “fuxwithmichael,” is flooded with pictures and videos featuring his cars as the stars. With more than 103,000 people tuned in as followers of Fux’s Instagram account, it’s clear that his cars are the subject of much admiration.

It is unlikely Fux will stop adding to the collection any time soon; creating custom versions of whatever the newest supercar is happens to be one of Fux’s favorite things about collecting. But one man can only drive so many cars, so with every new addition, there must be one that departs. This January in Kissimmee at the world’s largest collector-car auction, Fux will offer more than 25 amazing automobiles from his highly celebrated collection. From custom modern supercars to a handful of gorgeous classics, it’s an amazing lineup from one of the most prolific collectors around.

One of only 799 produced worldwide, this 2016 Ferrari F12tdf embodies the leading-edge engineering that came to define the ultimate dual-use grand-touring machine that could convey its occupants in comfort and style on the road and yet still win in the most arduous racing conditions. The F12tdf carries on the tradition of the original Tour de France as the ultimate front-engined V-12 Ferrari with a true wonder of engineering, the 6.3L V-12. Borrowing from Ferrari’s Formula 1 cars, its output has been raised from the “standard” F12’s 730 HP to 769 HP at 8,500 RPM and from 509 lb-ft of torque to 520 lb-ft, 80 percent of which is available at just 2,500 RPM. The tdf’s 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox has also been sharpened with closer ratios and micro-second shifts. The suspension is standard Ferrari practice, combining front double wishbones and a multi-link rear; a wider front track combined with phase-in rear steering, higher spring rates and SCM-E magnetorheological dampers in combination with Pirelli P-Zero tires on 20-inch light-alloy wheels give it stunning agility and stability, aided by huge carbon-ceramic brakes and black calipers straight off the LaFerrari. Based on an aluminum body shell and chassis, the F12tdf takes advantage of carbon-fiber AFS headlight buckets, fog lamps, wheel caps, sill protectors, dash inserts and rear-bench trim to shave 240 pounds from its overall weight. Adorned with Scuderia shields and protected by anti-chipping film, this example’s blaring Giallo Triplo Strato paint is second to none in the head-turning department. In addition to its black Alcantara interior with yellow contrast stitching, this exclusive F12tdf shows only 150 miles on the odometer, is equipped with more than $120,000 of custom-ordered factory options and is autographed by the factory workers under the hood.
