Isaac Tutumlu joins Lamborghini squad for Gulf 12 hours

Tutumlu will contest the 12-hour race at the Yas Marina Circuit in Abu Dhabi, he will share the Attempto Racing-entered Lamborghini Huracán GT3 with Aly Çapan and Clemens Schmid  - which the Spanish driver raced in the Blancpain GT Series earlier this season.

“It’s amazing to race again in the Gulf 12 hours, because I was there in 2013 and 2014. On my debut there we couldn’t start the race due to engine issues with our Leipert Lamborghini. But then I finished 7th driving a Ferrari of Kessel in 2014”, explains Tutumlu.

The Barcelona-born driver adds: “I have a lot of good memories and I´m pleased to drive at this magnificent Formula 1 venue, which it’s also its traditional season finale. Besides my two starts in the Gulf 12 hours, I also bring experience from my Porsche Supercup days. I really know how Yas Marina is”.
The Spaniard continues “I feel confident ahead of the event, because we have a fast, reliable driver line-up. Clemens won the Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge Middle East twice. On the other hand, Aly is making his debut in GT racing but he set competitive lap times during a private testing at Paul Ricard. He will put valuable experience under his belt throughout the weekend, because Yas Marina is a perfect mix of slow and fast corners. It will help him to improve quicker. I’m closely working with him, which I hope helps him develop as a driver. We are exploring our options for 2018, with a potential participation in a GT championship in Europe. The Gulf 12 hours are a first step in this direction.”

The drivers will hit track for the first time on Thursday during free practice sessions, with qualifying taking place on Friday at 12.30 (CET). The 12-hour race, which is divided into two halves of six hours each, will start at 6.00 and 14.45 (CET).
