The Model –The XK120 was launched in open two-seater or roadster form at the 1948 London Motor Show as a testbed and show car for the new Jaguar XK engine.The roadster caused a sensation, which persuaded Jaguar founder and design boss William Lyons to put it into production. Beginning in 1948, the first 242 cars wore wood-framed open 2-seater bodies with aluminum panels. Production switched to the 1cwt or 112 lb heavier all-steel in early 1950. The "120" in the name referred to the aluminum car's 120 mph top speed, which made it the world's fastest production car at the time of its launch. In 1954, NASCAR held a road-course race in New Jersey which would mark the only time a non-American built won a NASCAR event, the win going to an XK120 coupe.
The Car – With well executed panel fit underneath the nearly perfect Dove grey paint on this XK1210 shines nicely and will serve a new owner well. The black top and wire wheels nicely complement the exterior of the car, both also ready to continue service. Inside, the eye in immediately drawn to the burled walnut dash that houses the Smiths instruments. The red leather seats with color matched piping presents nicely is aging gracefully. Under the long, sleek bonnet the 3.4 liter is tuned up and ready to run. Included with the car is the spare tire and a toolkit. XKs made a splash when the first hit the market and continue to leave their mark today. No collection is complete without one...or two.

The Model: What can you say about Aston Martin, except they know class and they know sports cars? When first released it carried all the classic lines, long hood, swept-back windshield, short rear deck and typical angular body lines. But under the hood, the story was a bit better. 460 HP is transferred to the ground via improved suspension, rack and pinion steering and has it a braking system that could stop on a dime, or in the UK a farthing. With just over 15,000 miles from new this Vantage has been maintained by marque specialists and remains much as it did when it left the factory in Warwickshire.
