RORY Schlein won the season-opening Cumberland Open Championship at Workington on Saturday.
The Wolverhampton and Ipswich star ran a third place in his first ride but then won his subsequent four outings to top the leaderboard on 13 points.
Schlein’s win in Heat 19 proved crucial as he got the better of the two other rostrum finishers, Charles Wright and Kyle Howarth, to take the title.
Wright and Howarth both finished on 12 points, Wright taking the runners-up spot on count-back, whilst Ricky Wells and Scott Nicholls were just off the rostrum on 11.
