POOLE and Wolverhampton kick off the Premiership campaign with the first match of the season at Wimborne Road tonight (Wednesday).
Both clubs reached the play-offs in 2017 but whilst Wolves have retained five members of their line-up from last year, the Pirates have made five changes.
Linus Sundstrom, Peter Kildemand (as cover for Chris Holder) and Kacper Woryna all make their full debuts for the hosts – whilst Jacob Thorssell takes over the No.1 position for Wolves, having recovered from serious back injuries at the end of last season.
Poole promoter Matt Ford said: “Once again the bookmakers have installed us as favourites to lift the Premiership title, but we won’t look too far ahead just at the moment.
“We’re welcoming a very good Wolves side to Wimborne Road and they are sure to provide a stern test on our home shale.”
Thorssell said: “I’m really looking forward to it, I’m so pleased to be back with Wolverhampton and I’m determined to do a good job for them.
“It was a bit stressful at one point because it could have gone the other way and I could have been left out, but we are here now and I’m pleased about that.
“It will be tough being No.1 but it’s a challenge for me and I’m determined to do the job the team needs from me.”

SWINDON star David Bellego is keen to get the Robins’ Premiership title defence underway.
The Frenchman scored well in last month’s Charity Shield win over Belle Vue but the Wiltshire club, like so many others, have been left kicking their heels over Easter.
They launch their league campaign at Wolverhampton – scene of last year’s Grand Final triumph – next Monday before hosting Leicester at the Abbey on April 12.
Bellego said: “It was nice for us to win against Belle Vue over the two legs, a good way for us to start the season.
“Now we have to get down to the league business and get some points on the board. It’s been a long winter and we can’t wait to get some meetings under our belt now.”
