On a weekend which saw McLaren Automotive customer teams competing in both Europe and North America in the GT4 European Series, Pirelli World Challenge and at the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb, the 570S GT4 managed to pick up yet more wins to add to its highly successful 2018 season.

In the GT4 European Series weekend at Misano in Italy, customer team Equipe Verschuur starred. The #10 570S GT4 with driver pairing of Finlay Hutchison and Ricardo van der Ende proved to be the class of the field all weekend in raw performance terms. The car took pole for the first race, and ran well in the opening race of the weekend from the front-row of the grid. The team would lose out on the win after a post-race stewards decision, but that only motivated the crew to secure a better result on Sunday.

With the second race providing a chance for the duo to bounce back, van der Ende and Hutchison pushed hard and took a commanding win. The duo started fourth of the 44 cars on the grid, and climbed the order during the race, showcasing the track-only Sports Series model’s speed and agility. The result was their first win of the season, and the first in the series this season for the 570S GT4, putting the pair sixth in the championship standings.

The 570S GT4 also enjoyed a similarly successful weekend at the Road America. The highlight for customer team KPR came early in the weekend, with driver Mark Klenin scoring a GTSA class win in the first race of the weekend in Wisconsin. Racing as part of a combined grid of both GT4 and GT3 cars, Klenin took class victory and finished fourth among the GT4 runners in the first race, before claiming seventh in the second race of the weekend on Sunday afternoon to score more valuable points.

As it stands, Klenin – who has two class wins this year – is now up to fifth in the GTSA title fight after another, with just two races left to run in the season.

Completing the track activities over the weekend, a McLaren ran at the legendary Pikes Peak International Hill Climb in Colorado. Customer team Flying Lizard Motorsports took to the challenging 19.9km tarmac course with a specially-tuned 2014 McLaren 12C GT3.

Driving duties were carried out by the highly decorated Clint Vahsholtz, who holds the most class wins of any driver in Pikes Peak history, and he was competing in the highly competitive Time Attack 1 class. A time of 9m 52.748s saw the 12C GT3 and Vahsholtz claim second in class, and eighth in the overall standings.
