Risi Competizione Concludes Successful Roar Before the Rolex 24 Test at Daytona

The No. 62 Risi Competizione GTLM Ferrari Team concluded a successful Roar Before The Rolex 24 test days at the Daytona International Speedway in Daytona Beach, Florida.

With Ferrari Competizioni GT factory drivers Davide Rigon and Miguel Molina handling the driving chores for the Houston, Texas-based Ferrari team, the test kicked off the 50th anniversary season for the International Motor Sports Association (IMSA) WeatherTech SportsCar Championship 2019 season.

The popular Ferrari team will return later this month for the 57th annual Rolex 24 At Daytona race, January 24-27, with two additional Ferrari GT factory drivers at the wheel, Italian Alessandro Pier Guidi and Brit James Calado.

Rick Mayer, Risi Competizione Race Engineer:
"We made some good progress on the car to adapt the set up to the new (Michelin) tires. Davide and Miguel were very helpful. I think we have a really good base to start the event with. We hope the other two drivers, Ale and James, like the set up we've done, and we'll see how we do in the 24-hour race."

Davide Rigon, driver, No. 62 Ferrari 488 GTLM:
"I think we worked very well with the team. We started with a really good set up. Then we adjusted to suit our driving style, conditions and tires. We made steady progress the entire test. We pushed to find the limits and ran some partial race stints to evaluate the tire options. We like the car balance but are missing a little bit of speed to the others, especially to Porsche. But we have a good base to start the event with.

"I'm really looking forward to a good race. We have a great driver line up. We work together well and all like the same car balance, we know our 488 very well, and the new Michelin tires. We'll need some luck for the race but I'm very happy how we ended the Roar."

Miguel Molina, driver, No. 62 Ferrari 488 GTLM:
"I'm pretty happy with the job we did during the test days. It was important to be here, especially to fine tune the car. We had some ideas after the December (tire) test and we put it all together here. I think we did quite a good step forward. Now we only have to wait to see the BoP (Balance of Performance) decision for the race to see where we stand. We are putting everything together and are showing that the car is good on the driving side. I'm pretty happy about the work with the team. I've been really comfortable here working with all of the Risi team. I think we have a really strong line up for the race. I'm very proud to be driving in the race with Davide, James and Ale. I'm happy to come back to Daytona. I think it's one of the best races in the world because of the atmosphere; the level of the drivers in our class is incredible. In a couple weeks we will come back and try to take the (Rolex) watch."

The teams will return to Daytona for the 2019 running of the Rolex 24 At Daytona, January 24-27.
