Rounds 1&2 of National Zapcat Championship
After moving up to Division 1 in the first round of the national championship Neil & Phil had a unlucky start when they were pushed into the #4 buoy when a boat re entering the circuit from there pit lap collided with them pushing Neil into the marker buoy and a uninvited DQ losing them a place in the Division 1 Final, however in the later heats they scored 2 x 4th places 5th and a 6th showing great form for Sunday and round 2.
Sunday.
Having not quite scored enough points in Round one on Saturday put Neil & Phill #66 in to Division 2
Heat one gave us a taste for what was to come giving us a 4th place, our 2nd heat was a closely fought for position 1st but we had to settle for a second place, This was also the case for heats 3 and 4 all with 2nd place finishes heat 5 was a battle and a small collision from behind put us into 3rd place.
P3 for the start of Division 2 Final, On the deep water start it was a closely fought race for the first marker buoy with some physical driving and co-pilot Phill working is hart out we came out in position 2 on the first marker, holding this place and leaving the pack over the subsequent 5 further laps, on the final lap we had to take our mandatory ‘Pit Lap’ but having been held up by P1 boat on the fist pit buoy we came back on to the main course and finished in P6.
Round 2 & 3 we head of to hit the Surf at Watergate Bay 14th 15th June
