FOUR CLASS WINS & THREE PODIUMS

First sold to Tex Asche of Fort Lauderdale, this independent competition Shelby 289 Cobra was used for a Lark Cigarette Commercial at the 1963 12 Hours of Sebring before selling to long term owner Richard Coates.

Upgraded to full race specification and emblazoned with a “White Feather Racing” shield, CSX 2162 took part in local SCCA races in 1965 and 1966 with driver Bob Thorpe under the ownership of Coates and Asche. Notable results include four class wins at West Palm Beach and Daytona.

After retirement in 1966, Coates used CSX 2162 as a daily driver for several years before placing it in storage until 2007 when it underwent a full restoration by marque experts Legendary Motorcar Company.
