With just a few days to go until the latest instalment of the 2008 Formula Renault BARC Championship, leading entrant Russell Racing is in a positive frame of mind as it aims to build on its solid start to the campaign at Brands Hatch three weeks ago.Rounds three and four of the championship take place at Rockingham International Super Sports Car Circuit in Northamptonshire this weekend, 19th/20th April, and the team is hopeful of a strong outing for experienced Formula Renault BARC racer Aaron Steele. For 19-year-old Steele, who hails from Rochester in Kent, a brace of good finishes are the aim to consolidate the double top five result he achieved during the first two races of the season.Unquestionably, the Formula Renault BARC Championship is at its most competitive this year but with Steele’s experience, Russell Racing is confident its package will continue to improve and mount a sustained challenge throughout the course of the campaign.Russell Racing’s Matt Russell commented: “We’re all looking forward to Rockingham this weekend, it’ll be good to be back racing again and we are quietly confident Aaron will be able to build on the top five results he scored at Brands Hatch.“We aim to be fighting among the top six again this weekend. There are a lot of quick drivers in the FR2000 Class this year but we’re confident Rockingham will be good to us and Aaron will be able to achieve the good results he deserves.”In other news, category rookie Don De Graaff has parted company with the team with immediate effect. All at Russell Racing wish De Graaff well in his future endeavours.Qualifying for the third round of the 2008 Formula Renault Championship is provisionally expected to begin at 10.15 on Saturday, 19th April, with round four qualifying set to follow at 14.15.
