Tappy joins Carrera Cup for Thruxton

Duncan Tappy will join the Porsche Carrera Cup GB for rounds seven and eight of the season at Thruxton over the weekend of 17/18 May. As one of the six finalists from the McLaren/Autosport/BRDC Young Driver of the Year award, Tappy will race the 911GT3 Cup car entered by PCGB and will race in the Carrera Cup after contesting the Le Mans Series race at Monza last month.Tappy (23) is also one of the BRDC's 'Superstars' and has been involved in Britain's A1 GP team in recent months. Now, he will have the chance to show his pace in the Carrera Cup and has already tested the car at Thruxton."I work at Thruxton as an instructor, but this is a totally different ball game," said the Surrey-based racer. "It's not as easy as it looks. I want to pursue my single-seater career as far as I can, but sports car racing is certainly an option for the future."By the end of the test day, Tappy was lapping within a second of multiple race winner Tim Bridgman, and hopes to continue moving forward during the race weekend. "I started to get my head around driving a sports car; it's so different to anything I've driven before. But I'm definitely improving."
