Vincent Capillaire will join Asia Racing Team (ART) Motorsport for the 2008 Formula Asia 2.0 first round at Sepang, Malaysia. The French driver instructor will debut in the series at the Macanese Zhuhai based team.
At the age of 32, Capillaire has completed a pre-season test with ART motorsport at Zhuhai International Circuit. Although this was the very first time for Vicent Capillarie in the permanentChinese motor racing circuit, at the end of the two days of testing the French driver achievedpromising times.
Commenting on his signing to ART Motorsports, Cappilaire said, "I'm proud to be part of a topteam like Asia Racing Team (ART) Motorsport and I know they will give me the best possible car. I would like to pay them back with Top-5 result although I know I'm just a newcomer in Asia. Speaking about his driver next challenge, Team Manager Philippe Descombes commented, "Vincent is a very welcome addition to the team. I'm confident that he will be an asset to ART in 2008. Of course he will have to learn a new track and get back in the Formula Renault 2.0 in a week but I am confident he will do that quickly..."
ART Motorsports have so far announced they will run Japan racer Yushitaka Kuroda and Indonesian young ace Rio Haryanto alongside Capillaire next season.
ART Motorsports is one of the most successful teams in Asia Formula Renault racing. The team entered its first full season of Formula Renault 2.0 in 2004 and have won the last Macau Grand Prix Formula Renault event and finished runner-up on three occasions since then. Kazuki Nakajima, Kamui Kobayashi, Kohei Hirate, Rodolfo Avila or Jazeman Jaafar are part of the team “Hall of Fame”.
The upcoming Formula Asia 2.0 event will be held on 15 – 18 May 2008 (4 days event) at Sepang International Circuit, Malaysia. The Formula Asia 2.0 will offer a unique variety of challenging circuits which will prepare a driver for a career in international motorsport
