Round 2 : RBS International Manx Rally - 9th/10th May
Melvyn Evans/Sean Mullally won the RBS International Manx Rally to open their account in the Richard Egger Insurance MSA Asphalt Rally Championship in fine style. Their Subaru Impreza WRC completed the 120 miles of stages over the closed public roads on the Isle of Man 50 seconds quicker than their nearest rivals to give Welshman Evans his second victory on the event.
Following up their maximum score on the opening round of the season on Epynt, 2006 Asphalt Champions David Kynaston/Andy Russell took second place in the points with fourth overall on the Manx and, in so doing, continue to lead the Championship at this stage.
Similarly, John & Caroline Price maintain the runners-up spot with a Top 10 finish in their MG Metro 6R4, while defending MSA Asphalt Champion Steve Simpson moves up to third in the championship in his Hyundai Accent WRC.
The next round of the Richard Egger Insurance MSA Asphalt Rally Championship is the Jim Clark National Rally on 24th May.
