Orlandini Racing to partner BTR Preparations for 2008 Incas Rally

Orlandini Racing, the team owned by 2006 Peruvian National Rally Champion Raul Orlandini, will partner Britain’s BTR Preparations to get Steve Perez’ car ready for this year’s Incas Rally.

Perez who is sponsored by VK Vodka Kick, the same company that sponsors the Stobart Ford team in the FIA World Rally Championship, will compete in the September event on board a Mitsubishi Evo IX and Orlandini Racing will be in charge of helping out with the preparation, testing and servicing of the car.

BTR Preparations owner Tim Ashton visited Peru a week ago to meet the team and discuss the logistics for the event.

“The welcome and assistance I received from all the members of Raul’s Team, Oscar Davila in particular, was really fantastic. The Incas Rally is so incredibly different to any other event that Steve or the VK Rally Team has ever done before, and being in Peru, a country so far away from our base, just adds another dimension of difficulty for us! With Raul and Oscar´s help and their “local” experience, I feel we have a good chance to contest the rally without making too many mistakes,” said Ashton.

Orlandini Racing has more than 30 years of experience at the Incas Rally and was previously owned by Raul’s father, five-times winner of the event, until he passed away and gave the reigns to his 22-year-old son.

“I am very happy that we will work with BTR Preparations in the Incas Rally. We have a lot of experience on this event and we plan to help Tim and his team get the best car ready for Steve so he can be as competitive as some of the best drivers competing on this classic rally,” said Orlandini.

Ashton and his crew will travel to Peru a week before the start of event to help Orlandini Racing put the final touches on Steve’s car and have it ready for the start line on September 11th.
