British single-seater racer Will Bratt cannot wait for the third and fourth rounds of the 2008 FIAT Spanish Formula 3 Championship to get underway next weekend, 31st May/1st June, as the second event of his international race career will mark the Oxon racer’s first ever visit to the world famous Spa-Francorchamps circuit in Belgium.While Spa may not fall within the natural boundary of where you would expect the Spanish F3 series to visit, its place on the calendar is simply proof of the international stature which the burgeoning championship is developing. It’s also an indication of the demanding variety of tracks which Will has to contend with during his maiden season in Europe.The Banbury 20-year-old, who is racing for the EmiliodeVillota.com Motorsport squad this year, made a good start to his 2008 campaign at Jarama, near Madrid, three weeks ago and after the opening two rounds is a highly creditable sixth in the driver standings – just eight points shy of the outright championship lead.  Emerging from pre-event practice at Jarama with the fastest time of all, only problems with a delaminated rear tyre prevented the British Racing Drivers’ Club (BRDC) Rising Star from challenging for a place on the front couple of rows on the grid.Even with the difficulties, the Oxford University scholar still managed to qualify in eighth place and went on to achieve impressive fourth and fifth place finishes in the two races.Spa-Francorchamps, the long-standing home of the Belgian Formula One Grand Prix, will present a radically different challenge for Will next weekend and having never visited the track before he will certainly need every ounce of his natural ability to conquer what is widely regarded as one of the most demanding circuits in the world.“It’s going to be an awesome experience to race at Spa, it’s one of the most spectacular circuits in the world so I can’t wait to have my first run on the track during practice next Friday”, said Will, “It was unfortunate we had a couple of problems at Jarama but we still came away with two good results.“Obviously, I’d love to get my first Formula 3 podium next weekend but we have to be realistic and take into account this will be my first ever run at Spa – the practice on Friday will only be two, half hour sessions. I’m confident enough in my ability though, and also that of the team, to think if things go well we should be in a position to challenge strongly.”Following free practice on Friday, 30th May, qualifying for round three of the 2008 FIAT Spanish Formula 3 Championship will take place at 10.45 (local time) on Saturday, 31st May, ahead of the race itself at around 15.35.
