Trident Formula Master Pau Qualifying

The International Formula Master was back on track for the second round of the 2008 season.

After hitting the track for the first event at Valencia, teams and drivers moved to the French town of Pau, hosting one of the most historic temporary street tracks in motorsport.

On such an extremely tough circuit, drivers are called to give their best, as even the smallest mistake can bring to extreme consequences.

Due to the huge delays of the previous sessions, qualifications ended at 8 PM, and the two qualifications (one for even-numbered cars and one for odd-numbered cars) were conditioned by a variable weather. Kasper Andersen entered the track in the first one, ending up in 6th, while Alejandro Núñez took third place in the B-group, edging team-mate Harald Schlegelmilch by just 0.04s.

The team is now working in order to get ready for tomorrow`s race, set to be broadcasted by Eurosport 2 and Eurosport Asia Pacific at 12:15 (GMT+1). A live stream will be available on eurosport.com and formulamaster.net.Group A6th - Kasper Andersen (#32) 1:12.070Group B3th - Alejandro Núñez (#33) 1:12.6594th - Harald Schlegelmilch (#31) 1:12.696Alessandro Alunni Bravi, Managing Director"The results of today`s session were under our expectations regarding Kasper Andersen, who was penalized by the time choice in switching to the second set of new tires. The strategy paid off for Chris Van Der Drift, but prevented Kasper from exploiting the middle part of the session as, since practice, the best laptimes were clocked after 8 laps or so, as having a good overall pace is crucial on a street track like Pau.

"We`re a bit disappointed, because he had the right potential to be close to the top positions. I`m really satisfied with the great state of form shown by Alejandro Núñez, who lapped within one tenth of a second from the pole position. His great progression is really confirming the great potential we recognized in him since the first approach. I believe he`ll have a good starting point for the races to be held tomorrow and Sunday.

"In our third car, Harald Schlegelmilch had a troubled time in dealing with the discontinuous rain that hit the second session. He`s seeing Pau for the first time this weekend, and avoided to take risks in his first laps, that eventually turned out to be the best ones in terms of pure performance. He could have even done better, but I`m glad for the good team effort by Trident Racing, despite the track was completely new to the staff. We think we`ll have the chance to count on a good starting point to complete a positive weekend”.
