Dunlop/Gambia MSA British Historic Rally Championship - Round 3; Severn Valley Historic Stages, 31 May

Richard Hill and Patrick Cooper scored a convincing victory on the Severn Valley Historic stages on Saturday, the third round of the Dunlop/Gambia MSA British Historic Rally Championship. Hill (pictured right) underlined his intentions by pulling out an instant 24 second lead through the opening stage, a mammoth 18-mile test in Radnor forest. Leading the chase, and making their debut on the mid-Wales stages, was fellow Escort Mk2 crew Darren Moon/John McNichol, but Hill's winning margin was out to 1m 24s at the finish.

In category 2, Steven Smith and John Nichols were clear winners in their Porsche 911RS, while the earlier 911 of Dessie Nutt/Geraldine McBride took category 1 after Patrick Watts/Elgan Davies slid off the road close to the end of Radnor in their Sunbeam Tiger.
