In just a few months, The British Steam Car Team faces a huge challenge. At Bonneville, the Union Jack Flag will take on the world to set a new record for the fastest steam powered car, a record that has stood for over 100 years. The team's goal is to break three steam powered records: The Guinness, National and World Record.

The world steam powered record was previously set in 1906 by Fred Marriott. It is the longest standing land speed record recognised by the FIA, where Marriott recorded an average of 128mph over a measured mile in a Stanley Steamer.

The car has earned support from many leading industry figures including Damon Hill OBE, Richard Noble - Team Principal for Thrust SCC, and the World Land Speed Record holder Squadron Leader Andy Green.
