Blenheim Concours event open to all

COYS is to run the famous Blenheim palace Concours event once again this year on Saturday July 5th; is open to all and free to enter.

The Concours, which is part of the COYS auction sale of Fine Motor Cars and incorporates the Jaguar Legend, a special section for Jaguar cars, including a special display of Jaguars from the Jaguar Daimler Heritage Collection.

“ COYS wanted to mark the 60th anniversary of the Jaguar XK 120,” said the Managing Director of COYS, Chris Routledge, “ so we have invited the JDHT to bring some very special cars. Amongst them will be NUB 120 the famous XK 120 Appleyard car,which won many victories in the rallies of the 1950’s.

Also on display will be 393 RW, the penultimate D-type, built in March 1956 and originally fitted with the latest specification fuel injection engine. It was allocated to the Jaguar works racing team, and was entered for the Reims 12-hour race, which it won, driven by Duncan Hamilton and Ivor Bueb.

The Jaguar C-Type, on show at Blenhiem, is one of the later production cars. It was bought by the Italian driver Tadini and entered in the 1953 Mille Miglia, but retired. After many years in Switzerland, it came back to the UK in the 1970s and was bought for the JDHT in 1983.

The last Jaguar saloon car to use the famous XK engine, first launched almost forty years before and a on display is a 1987 Jaguar XJ6 series 3 4.2 Litre Sovereign.

Also on display will be the last example of the DS 420 Daimler DS420 Limousine built in 1992. It was the last car to use the 44-year old Jaguar XK engine design.

So far, more than 25 examples of Brown’s Lane products have been signed up for the auction which will take place at 3pm. More than 70 cars, including a collection of film and TV vehicles will go under the hammer. One of these will be Mr Bean’s famous Mini. There will a be a large section of automobilia as well as the usual section for sporting guns.

Cars taking part in the Concours can arrive from 10am and will be judged by a panel of judges.

Classes this year will include: The XK class for XK and other jaguars; The Best of British; for all British cars.Forza Italia, for everything that is Italian, and The Spirit of Motoring, for any car that evokes the great days of the motor car.

Councours exhibitors will be allowed into the auction and food areas free of charge. They will be able to purchase a catalogue at a discount of 25% off if they wish to bid at the auction. They should identify themselves at reception.

Chris Routledge said:” COYS will be bringing a very rare D type and a well-remembered C type. We want to make this a celebration of Jaguar so anyone who is a Jaguar enthusiast is very welcome to attend.”
