Ron & Leon Haslam at Castle Combe

Superbike Grand National Race Meeting Castle Combe, 16th & 17th August 2008

More top class big bike racing is scheduled for the 2008 season at Castle Combe with the announcement that the Wiltshire circuit will be once again hosting the now traditional Castle Combe Superbike Grand National on the weekend of the 16th and 17th August.

As well as some top class club racing and the two feature races, race fans will be treated to the sight and sound of BSB star Leon Haslam who will be demonstrating the HM Plant Honda Superbike at the Fowlers-sponsored motorcycle meeting.

Leon will take to the circuit for a short lunchtime demonstration on Sunday and joining him on the track will be his father Ron Haslam riding Andy Caddick's ex Honda UK and Wayne Gardner three cylinder RS500 machine.

In the 1980's, Ron Haslam was one of the most successful British racers, regularly finishing on the podium in Grands Prix and although Ron only made one appearance at Castle Combe on a Ducati, this will be a unique opportunity to see Ron riding on an extremely rare and evocative bike as he joins Leon on the circuit.

Local European Championship racer Tommy Bridewell is planning on racing his Suzuki GSXR1000 at his local event where he'll be up against defending CCGN Champion Victor Cox who races in the British Championships and more top class entries are expected.

Full details of the event will be found on the Castle Combe website at www.castlecombecircuit.co.uk buiklt by racecar
