BRITISH F1™ DRIVERS FLOCK TO EXCLUSIVE N*E*R*D CHARITY GIG
Pharrell Williams with band N*E*R*D will play a private gig at The F1™ Party in aid of Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity. The party is being held at London’s legendary Bloomsbury Ballroom on Wednesday 2 July to celebrate the official launch of the 2008
Formula 1™ Santander British Grand Prix. Pharrell and fellow band members are taking time out of their hectic European schedule to entertain Formula 1’s finest, including Lewis Hamilton, Jenson Button and David Coulthard at an evening of fast cars and serious glamour, which also features a set from Basement Jaxx.
Bernie Ecclestone: “We have forged a unique and successful relationship with Great Ormond Street Hospital which draws support from across all the Formula One community. By exchanging best-practice techniques with the surgeons and through fundraising events like tonight, I am delighted to be able to lend my support”.
Pharrell Williams: "This is going to be the hottest ticket in London this summer! Great Ormond Street Hospital is close to my heart and it is our pleasure to perform at the F1™ Party. To mix fundraising with Formula One is a very special combination and we are going to give a crazy performance. I am very grateful to Mr Ecclestone and Great Ormond Street Hospital for inviting us to perform and I can't wait to give Lewis my full support at the British Grand Prix later that week".
Lewis Hamilton: “I was completely blown away with emotion when I met some of the children at Great Ormond Street Hospital last year. I feel extremely humbled that they feel I can make a difference and so I am glad to lend my support to the F1 Party. The F1 Party is a great way to raise essential funds for Great Ormond Street Hospital and I am delighted that I have been invited back.”
The F1™ Party is hosted by Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity and Bernie Ecclestone, Chief Executive Officer of The Formula One Group. It is the official charity of the 2008 Formula 1™ Santander British Grand Prix. Santander are generously supporting The F1™ Party for a second year running to raise vital funds for the hospital’s new Heart and Lung Centre.
The charity’s patrons Tess Daly and Vernon Kay will be joined by Alesha Dixon, Kelly Osbourne, Leon Jackson, Lemar, Immodesty Blaize, Rupert Grint, Kirsty Gallacher, Freema Agyeman, Simon Webbe, Fearne Cotton and Rory Bremner amongst others with support from the F1™ drivers. The fundraising evening includes the F1™ Party’s exclusive auction with ‘once in a lifetime’ lots. For the first time ever, the auction is being opened up to the public ahead of the party.
