Jack Clarke will race in the Porsche Carrera Cup GB during rounds 11 and 12 at Snetterton (12/13 July), making his series debut in the PCGB entry in the pro category.Clarke, one of Britain's rising single-seater stars, has been invited to race the PCGB entry and will have his first races in anything other than a single-seater when he campaigns the 911GT3 Cup car at Snetterton.Without the karting background of many of his contemporaries, Clarke has shown impressive speed; first in Formula BMW and more recently in Formula Palmer Audi, where he was a race winner at Oulton Park on 28 June. Now, he is eager to make the most of the chance to race the Carrera Cup car, competing against his friend and former FPA rival Tim Bridgman."It's going to be a lot to take in, but Tim is a good friend and he's given me a couple of tips," said Clarke. "I've got to switch on to the car as quickly as possible and if I get along well with the car I'd love to be competitive."While single-seaters are currently Jack's prime focus, he knows that sports and GT racing is another career option. "You've got to have as many doors open as possible and I'd like to be an all-round driver. It's worked well for Tim this season," he said.Clarke (20) has been guided in his racing career by his stepfather and former racer Julian Bailey. As well as racing in Formula 1, Bailey enjoyed considerable success in touring cars and sports cars, winning the FIA GT Championship in 2000.Jack will have his first run in the 2008-model 911GT3 Cup car during testing at Snetterton on the Friday of the race weekend.
