Hitech Junior heads to Hungaroring

Fresh from its first ever podium finish last time out, Hitech Junior heads to the next round of the Eurocup Formula Renault 2.0 Championship this weekend aiming for a repeat performance.  The Silverstone-based team will field four cars including one for 16 year-old Spaniard Miki Monras, who secured third place last time out.He will be joined by rising British stars Richard Singleton and Luciano Bacheta and rapid Colombian Esteban Jacobo, as they head to the Hungaroring F1 circuit just outside Budapest. Last time out, 20 year-old Singleton, the Formula Renault UK Winterseries Champion, continued the form that netted him the 2006 BARC Formula Renault title and secured two top ten finishes.

While Bacheta and Jacobo will be making their first race appearances since the British outing supporting the World Series by Renault race at Silverstone last month. Both are keen to fulfil their pre-season promise as they bid to break into the top ten.

For the David Hayle-led team, the event will make their first appearance at the circuit which four weeks later will host the Hungarian Formula One Grand Prix.  The 2.72 mile track is very different to the majority of the other tracks on which the fledgling team competes; in particular the track surface is substantially different from circuits such as Silverstone and Spa due to the high temperatures.

“This weekend will be the first time we’ve competed in Hungary but we head to the event in relatively confident form after the podium finish last time out,” said Hayle.  “All of the drivers have at different times shown a lot of promise so far this season and we aim to repeat that this weekend. The temperatures are normally extreme and that will pose its own problems, but I’m optimistic we can repeat the form we’ve shown in testing.”
