Trident at Siulverstone GP2 Race 1

#20 Mike Conway,  14th#21 Ho Pin Tung,  18th The first race of the weekend, disputed on dry conditions yesterday at Silverstone, didn`t turn out to be a positive one for Trident Racing. Both Mike and HoPin managed to end their race, but their final positions didn`t fit with expectations. The Briton`s day was conditioned by a mistake at the start that resulted in a stalled engine, while the Japanese paid the consequences of a bad set of tires that didn`t suit the car`s set-up and the track`s conditions. The British event of the 2008 GP2 Main Series will end tomorrow at 9:30 GMT with the second race, covered live by Sky Sport and by Italy`s national television.Mike Conway“My day was conditioned by the mistake I committed at the start. I stalled the engine, and the time I spent to revive it allowed all the other cars to pass. I was last, and tried to improve my running position before the pit-stop. Unfortunately, in the second part of the race I experienced an abnormal rubber wear, and had to content with 14th place. It`s disappointing, because I was really looking forward to my home race, and I ended up with nothing in my hands. I hope to cruise to a points finish on tomorrow`s Race 2".Ho Pin Tung“It was an extremely tough race for us, as we opted for a radical set-up solution that could have helped us in a particular track condition. Unfortunately, it didn`t pay off, and we came to the pit-stop after an hard first stint where I moved back to 14th place. After pitting, maybe a little too late, I found myself in 20th. The car`s handling improved dramatically with the second set of tires, but we didn`t have chance to recover at that point".Alessandro Alunni Bravi, Managing Director“The performance of both our drivers were tough to evaluate due to some unlucky episodes that conditioned our pre-race strategy and set-up choice. We prevented an early pit for Ho Pin, as the Japanese is known for not stressing his tires too much, while Mike was expected to follow his main rivals` strategy. Unfortunately, Mike stalled on the grid and dropped to last place, forcing us to anticipate his stop to Lap 6, as soon as allowed by rules. In the meantime, Ho Pin encountered troubles with his first set of tires; things improved after the change, and he was able to climb two positions back compared to his starting spot".
