Ginetta Junior Championship

Ginetta Junior Championship double race winner Daniel Lloyd can't wait for the second half of the 2008 season to begin at Snetterton Circuit in Norfolk next weekend, 12th/13th July, as he aims to continue his outstanding debut year of car racing action. The 16-year-old, who recently concluded his GCSE studies at Huddersfield Grammar School, is now able to channel even more focus into his racing commitments and is bidding to achieve a brace of podium finishes during his maiden competitive appearance at the 1.95-mile East Anglia track.Almost five weeks on from his dominant performance at Croft in North Yorkshire, where he achieved his first Ginetta Junior pole position and went on to claim a truly outstanding pair of race victories, Daniel is keen to continue the sparkling run of form which began with his first career podium at Donington Park in early May.“I think Snetterton will be more difficult than Croft was as it’s a very fast circuit which will aid the slipstream, keeping the racing very close”, he said, “I’m sure we’ll be on the pace and we definitely have a chance to do well. My aim is to score as many points as we can and I think we can realistically fight for a couple of top three finishes.”Having never raced at Snetterton before, the British Racing Drivers’ Club (BRDC) Stars of Tomorrow Scholarship Winner will head into next weekend’s 13th and 14th rounds of the championship with very little experience of the track but he isn’t fazed in the least having gone particularly well during his maiden Snetterton test last week.Daniel added: “The test we did went well, we didn’t have any problems with the set-up and I was able to run pretty quickly. It was more a day for me to learn the circuit really but the pace we showed has given me a lot of confidence as we were faster than we originally thought we would be. I can’t wait to be back racing again, I’m raring to go!”Following pre-event testing on Friday, 11th July, the Ginetta Junior youngsters will have a further 15 minute free practice at 09.00 on Saturday, 12th July, ahead of qualifying at 11.15 and the 13th round of the championship at approximately 16.30.Round 14 will take place on Sunday, 13th July, at 15.05 and is expected to be screened live on Freeview, cable and digital satellite channel ITV4 as part of the afternoon’s HiQ MSA British Touring Car Championship race package broadcast from Snetterton.Provisional 2008 Ginetta Junior Championship Positions (after Rd12)1st Dino Zamparelli, 351pts; 2nd Thomas Carnaby, 274pts; 3rd Daniel Lloyd, 253pts
