DUNLOP TYRES REUNITES WINNING CARS AND DRIVERS AT GOODWOOD
Dunlop Tyres is set to bring together a selection of winning cars from the world of motorsport with their former drivers at the Goodwood Festival of Speed from July 11th to 13th.
Paying homage to the history of motorsport, the tyre company will reunite a selection of winning cars on Dunlop tyres with their relevant drivers, who will take part in a series of interviews and live shows in the Stable Yard at Goodwood House.
A highlight of the show will be Sir Stirling Moss being reunited with a C-Type Jaguar that he drove in 1953. Using Dunlop tyres, the C-Type also marked the introduction of disc brakes, another Dunlop innovation.
Five-time Le Mans winner Derek Bell will appear with the Porsche 962 he drove in 1988 whilst Frank Biela will reminisce about his dominant 1996 BTCC Championship in the Audi A4 Quattro. On two wheels, the first rider to achieve an average of 130mph around the Isle Of Man TT circuit, John McGuiness will also accompany the winning Honda he rode in 2007.
Mark Dilks, Marketing Manager said: “The Dunlop stand will host a live show every hour during the three-day Festival of Speed with a range of historically significant cars appearing with their former drivers and next to their modern-day counterparts.
“The famous Bentley Blower, driven by The Bentley Boys who won Le Mans several times in the 1920s, will stand next to the 2002 Bentley EXP 8 and the Le Mans-winning Jaguar XJR-9 will be reunited with the Group C team drivers Hurley Haywood, Brian Redman, Eddie Cheever Win Percy and GP Winner John Watson.
“It will also be fantastic to hear the story behind each win from the racing drivers who took the wheel and each session will be fittingly presented by racing driver and journalist Amanda Stretton and motoring journalist and historic racing stalwart Simon Taylor” added Mark.
The shows will take place on the Dunlop stand, situated in Stable Yard area in the grounds of Goodwood House. The timetable for the live shows will be published on driversknow.co.uk/goodwood.
