Win, win and win with Yokohama

It’s win-time with Yokohama, as a series of awesome competitions are being run through the website for the UK distributor of the Japanese brand of high-performance tyres for road, race and rally.

Winners will get the chance to visit the UK round of the FIA World Touring Car Championship, which uses Yokohama as control tyres, as well as pit their skills against ‘drivers’ from across Europe to win a Speed Racer Go!!! slot car racing set and a set of Yokohama tyres.

This year is the third of four seasons that the FIA World Touring Car Championship (WTCC) is using Yokohama as control tyres. The ADVAN A005 and A006 dry slick and wet-weather tyres have drawn critical acclaim from the drivers and teams alike, praised for their grip, performance and consistency in the widely varying conditions that make up the championship.

Yokohama engineers have been continuously developing the tyres to ensure that the range of manufacturers taking part, including both front and rear wheel-drive cars, have the same opportunities to produce some of the closest and most spectacular racing around. The fact that so far this year, there have been no less than nine different race winners clearly demonstrates that the formula is extremely well developed.

And at the end of July, it will be making its traditional appearance on UK soil, when the WTCC hits Brands Hatch in Kent. The weekend of the 26 and 27 July will reverberate to the sound of not only the WTCC but Yokohama-shod support series, Formula Master, as well as a host of other quality racing. There will also be plenty of British drivers to support, with reigning champion Andy Priaulx chasing his fourth successive title in the BMW and James Thompson proving the emerging ability of the privately-developed Honda Accord. Rob Huff will be chasing another win to add to his tally, in his UK-prepared Chevrolet Lacetti while independent and former British SEAT Cupra Challenge champion Tom Boardman is also expected to take part.

Yokohama HPT Ltd, the UK distributor is giving five winners the chance to come to Brands Hatch and bring a guest with them to see the action live and uninterrupted. Each winner will receive a pair of tickets, giving them entry to the event on both days of the weekend, as well as access to the support race paddock, to see how the cars are prepared for the weekend’s action.

To enter the competition, go to the Yokohama HPT website (www.yokohama.co.uk) and click on the ‘WTCC Competition’ button. This will take potential winners to the easy to enter competition page and the five winners will be selected at random from all correct answers received by the closing date of midnight on Tuesday 22 July.

Another competition on the Yokohama HPT website follows on from the marque’s relationship with the recent film Speed Racer. To celebrate the use of Yokohama tyres on the Mach 5 star car, Yokohama has developed a flash racing game on the site, allowing users to pit their skills against one another. The five fastest times recorded through the game will win their respective ‘drivers’ a Carrera Speed Racer GO!!! slot car racing set. Featuring the Mach 5 and Racer X, which compete in the Crucible in the movie, the set features 21 feet of track, in curves and loops, making it an essential piece of kit for any movie fan.

In addition, one winner from Europe will also win a set of Yokohama tyres for their road car, allowing them to experience the kind of performance and handling that the WTCC drivers and Speed Racer himself are already familiar with.

Again, visitors to yokohama.co.uk can simply click on the ‘Yokohama Racer’ button to be taken straight to the game itself and hit the track.
