Ridley-Holloway heads to Oulton

Jonathan Ridley-Holloway heads to one of his favourite motor racing venues, Oulton Park Island Circuit in Cheshire, next weekend aiming for the first top six finish of his maiden season in the ultra-competitive ELF Renault Clio Cup.Ahead of the 15th and 16th rounds of the 2008 season, the 24-year-old is feeling in buoyant mood after producing one of the highlight performances of his short career so far during round 14 at Snetterton Circuit in Norfolk last Sunday.Gradually improving with every outing at the wheel of his Total Control Racing prepared Clio Cup car, Jonathan raced in the thick of it with some of the category’s most high profile names at Snetterton and emerged on top from several entertaining battles, including a scrap with multiple Clio Cup Champion Paul Rivett. Now, with just over a week to go until the Oulton Park event on 26th/27th July, the North Devon star is certain he can produce the level of performance required to qualify inside the top 10 and go on to challenge for a season’s best top six finish.“Oulton should be good, if we can get qualifying sorted we know we can race well so a start on the first three or four rows could really bring a fantastic result”, said Jonathan, “Things have really started moving in the right direction lately as far as the races are concerned, it’s just qualifying which we haven’t been able to get right.“I really like Oulton Park, the up and down nature of the circuit is great fun and there are some great corners – Cascades is mega! Last weekend we were on quite a flat circuit at Snetterton so the contrast and challenge of Oulton will be good. I think we’ll go well.”With 14 of the 20 scheduled rounds completed, Jonathan is currently in 15th position in the championship standings with four top 10 finishes and a best result of seventh place to his credit. The Bond Oxborough Phillips, A4 Apparel and PicoPC.co.uk backed racer is also just 44 points shy of the top 10 in the title race.Free practice ahead of the 15th and 16th rounds of the 2008 ELF Renault Clio Cup will be held at Oulton Park Island Circuit next Friday, 25th July, with qualifying scheduled to follow at 11.00 on Saturday, 26th July, and the first of the weekend’s races then expected to get underway at around 16.05. Round 16 is timetabled for Sunday, 27th July, at 13.30.
