increase in grid size for Winter Series

This season’s Formula Renault UK Winter Cup is set to increase in size with 32 registration places available for the four-round series, an increase of four on last year’s event.

Once again there will be a separate class for Formula Renault BARC cars, which will race with their engine air restrictor alongside the UK-spec cars.

Rounds one and two take place at Croft on Saturday, 1st November followed by the climax at Rockingham on 8th November.

The registration fee has been set at £1,750 +VAT with no restriction on the number of BARC-specification cars that can enter, while interest from overseas is also anticipated.

Richard Singleton was the 2007 UK Winter champion, racing for Hillspeed. Eurocup Formula Renault racer Valtteri Bottas won three races on the road but was ineligible to score points as a non-MSA licence holder, while Hywel Lloyd won the BARC Class crown to add to his 2007 title.

Championship Manager Simon North said: “The Formula Renault UK Winter Cup has proved extremely popular in recent years and gives an ideal opportunity for drivers to gain extra track time in real race conditions before the new season begins.”
