Spanish F3 Preview/Magny-Cours

Circuit de Nevers Magny-Cours, the home of the French Formula One Grand Prix since 1991, hosts the sixth race meeting of the 2008 FIAT Spanish Formula 3 Championship this coming weekend, 20th/21st September, and British racer Will Bratt is aiming to impress on his first ever appearance at the famous track.Banbury-based Will, who is contesting his maiden season of F3 action with Spanish team EmiliodeVillota.com Motorsport, has shown outstanding pace at the first five events of the 2008 season and sees no reason why he can’t challenge for his second career Formula 3 podium next weekend at the famous 2.74-mile venue.Ahead of rounds 10 and 11 of the campaign, the British Racing Drivers’ Club (BRDC) Rising Star is looking forward to getting back behind the wheel of his Dallara F308 chassis and plans to quickly learn the Magny-Cours track ahead of a successful weekend’s racing.Currently 10th overall in the FIAT Spanish F3 Championship driver standings, Will achieved his first pole position start at Spa-Francorchamps back at the end of May before going on to record his debut category podium finish in the first of the weekend’s races. Of the nine races contested so far, Will has scored championship points in five of them.“Racing at Magny-Cours should be fantastic and although I’ve never been there before I’m confident we should be able to learn the track pretty quickly”, commented Will, “It hasn’t been a problem getting up to speed at the other circuits we’ve visited this year, Spa was the best example where we qualified on pole position on our first visit there.”Although some misfortune has befallen the Oxon racer during recent events, Will is fully focused on climbing the driver standings during next weekend’s visit to France and he can’t wait to take his first miles at Magny-Cours during free practice a week today. He added: “I’m really looking forward to next weekend’s action, we’ve had some bad luck lately but the team and I are very hungry to qualify at the front, get back on the podium and climb the championship standings.”Free practice ahead of the 10th and 11th rounds of the FIAT Spanish F3 Championship will take place on Friday, 19th September, at 13.00, 15.15 and 17.30 (all local times).Qualifying will be held on Saturday, 20th September, at 12.00, with both of the weekend’s races scheduled for Sunday, 21st September, at 10.30 and 12.45.
