Bike: Alstare Men Aim for the Top

Team Alstare riders Fonsi Nieto, Yukio Kagayama and Max Neukirchner are gunning for good results at this weekend's 12th round of the World Superbike Championship in Vallelunga near Rome following disappointment in the wet at Donington Park.

This is the second year that the series is visiting the track and all three riders will be hoping that this year's races will be better for them than last year, especially Kagayama who was a non-starter because of a hand injury.

Fonsi Nieto:

"Once again, another time for me learning a circuit on a different bike. Last year I finished eighth in both races, but I know I can do better this year. Donington was a disaster, and best forgotten, and I want to concentrate on getting two good results this weekend. I feel I have been a bit unlucky recently, so I am hoping that Vallelunga will be the beginning of an upturn in my fortunes."

Yukio Kagayama:

"I did not race at Vallelunga last year because of injury so I am eager to make a good show this year. It has been a strange season, in many ways, but I am determined to do well at Vallelunga and the remaining rounds; for myself and the team."

Max Neukirchner:

"I would like two good results this weekend and leave Vallelunga back in second place in the championship and I see no reason why this is not possible. Some of my competitors have tested at Vallelunga so they will have an advantage from the start of practice so it is up to me and my team to get on the pace and find a good set-up as soon as we can. Last year my best result was a 10th so I am sure I can do much better than that."
