Team Parker takes Carrera Cup team title

Team Parker Racing took the first major award of the 2008 Porsche Carrera Cup GB when it clinched the prestigious teams' championship crown at Brands Hatch on Saturday (20 September 2008). Second place in the penultimate race of the season for Michael Caine put the title out of reach of leading challengers Jota Sport.

Headed by Stuart Parker, the team has fielded up to four cars this season, with Caine and Tim Bridgman nominated at the start of the season as the two points' scoring drivers for the teams' championship. Charles Bateman raced alongside Caine and Bridgman all season, while the team has also fielded a fourth car for Jake Rosenzweig and Sean Paul Breslin in selected races.

I think the team has been the best all year long and it's a justly deserved title," said Parker as his crew celebrated at Brands. "The lads have worked impeccably hard all year, so all credit to them and the drivers for winning this title."

Parker also confirmed that the team intends to stay with the Carrera Cup in 2009. "We'll definitely be back next year and we want to field four cars. It is certainly our intention to come back even stronger in 2009."

Success in the teams' championship will earn the squad £7000 in prize money at the end of season awards' dinner, while Parker will also have the use of a road-going Porsche 911 for a year.

"With the prize money we'll make sure everyone has a good Christmas and then it will go towards some new kit for next year," said Parker. "Having the 911 road car for a year is the icing on the cake!"
