Fiskens, celebrated the tenth anniversary of the Goodwood Revival in stunning style both on and off track at the weekend.
Managing Director Gregor Fisken competed in the Richmond and Gordon Trophy race driving Burkhard Von Schenk’s splendid ex-works Maserati 250F, setting one of the fastest laps ever seen for the car around the famous Sussex circuit. The race was eventually cut short when the red flags flew following an accident for German superstar Jochen Mass which left the ex-Formula One race winner and historic racing legend upside down, although thankfully without serious injury, in the 1956 Lancia FerrariD50A.
Nevertheless Gregor enjoyed his outing in the stunning automobile which was previously raced by the legendary Jean Behra during the 1956 season. “The 250F is a wonderful, prestigious racing car which I had never driven previously. To get that chance at a circuit as gloriously fast as Goodwood was a real privilege,” said a delighted Fisken. “Throughout the race I was able to mix it against the stiff competition provided by the powerful Lotus-Climax 16’s, BRMs, a Vanwell along with an OSCA and Aston Martin DBR4 on what was a particularly high quality grid. I’d like to say a huge thank you to Burkhard for asking me to compete.”
Sales Manager Will Stone also competed in the Formula Junior race in his beautifully prepared Ausper, while off-track Fiskens grabbed huge attention in the ‘Earls Court Motorshow’ exhibition. Their own ex-Ford France GT40 welcomed the crowds whilst the extremely rare 1966 Ferrari 275 GTB Competition, which is currently for sale with Fiskens, proved to be a real show-stopper.
Gregor was also one of a select few drivers to be presented with a medal and a scarf made from the Lord March family tartan to recognise his 10 consecutive years racing at the Revival meeting.
“As ever Lord March and his team have produced a stunning event,” said Fiskens’ Office Manager James Mitchell. “The whole weekend was packed with nostalgia and was another stunning occasion on the historic motorsport calendar. To see the likes of Sir Jackie Stewart, Henri Pescarolo, Emerson Fittipaldi and so many others back behind the wheel was a huge privilege and we’re delighted to be involved.”
Fiskens will be out in force again next weekend at the Spa 6 Hours, the event which traditionally brings down the curtain on the historic racing season.
Gregor has been invited to drive an historic Project Aston Martin car in the endurance race alongside David Clark and the car’s owner Wolfgang Friedrichs, while the rest of the Fiskens’ team will be supporting the Fiskens-sponsored Royal Automobile Club Woodcote Trophy. The grid for the final round of the Motor Racing Legends’ organised series is once again impressive, with Sir Stirling Moss, another star of the Goodwood Revival, being one of the many highlights in his Osca FS372.
“The Spa 6 Hours weekend should be a fitting finale to a stunning historic season,” said Mitchell. “Motors Racing Legends have done another wonderful job in 2008 organising the Woodcote Trophy, and the race this weekend should be just as thrilling as the ones we saw at the Silverstone Classic and Monza.”
