V8 Utes Line-up for Bathurst

Driver entries have been finalised for Round Seven of the 2008 Yokohama V8 Utes Racing Series to be held at Bathurst, October 9 – 12.

Since Winton only four changes have been made to the dynamic line-up including; Kurt Wimmer who will be trying out his brand new car, Craig Dontas who has changed teams and Denis Cribbin and Clint Harvey who are both returning to the Utes.

The young Queenslander, Wimmer has already proven his prowess in a Ute at QLD Raceway earlier in the year where he came in 10th  in the round.

Wimmer came in ahead of Craig “The Growler” Dontas who both equalled each other’s fastest lap time for the weekend in a time of 1.25.81.

Dontas will be making the move from the Madashell Motorsport team to race with Big Gun Racing.

He is feeling good about his new car, which will be sporting the Ideal Electrical livery alongside Brad Patton and car owner Peter Burnitt.

“I just tested the car today. I didn’t have any major problems and it feels great.

“The Ideal Electrical guys have been fantastic and I really love the new tough look of the car,” said Dontas.

Seasoned driver, Denis “Cribbo” Cribbin will be taking over ‘The Growlers’ old #6 car and will also be returning to the Utes for the first time since 2007.

Cribbo has driven the Utes since their first year in 2001 and brings with him a wealth of experience having first raced at Bathurst in 1969 in a Lotus.

Another experienced driver, Western Australian, Clint Harvey will be returning to the Utes in Scott Jennings car – this will be his second appearance in a Ute, his first being in Round Two at Barbagello.

“I am pretty stoked to have a second opportunity to be driving a Ute and especially at Bathurst. I have some good friends and sponsors that have given me this opportunity and I’m looking forward to it,” said Harvey.

The Utes will have their usual 32 strong field and will take to the track for the first time in their practice session at Bathurst on Thursday, 9th October.

If you are unable to make it to the track make sure you tune into Channel Seven to watch Race Two 12pm, Saturday 11th and Race Three Sunday, 12th October televised live.
