A1 Team France on display

With just a few days to go to the opening round of the 2008-09 season A1 Team France has begun its countdown by being present at the Paris Motor Show.

Although A1 Team France is busy preparing for the first event of the 2008-09 World Cup of Motorsport (kick-off at Zandvoort in the Netherlands on 4th-5th October), it is also heading for the Paris Motor Show. From 2nd to 19th October the team will display the car with which it has won the title and scored a couple of fourth places since 2006. The Paris Motor Show held every two years is attended by over a million enthusiasts, and the many A1 GP fans will be able to get a close-up view of their national team.

During the press days Olivier Panis will be on the team’s stand in Hall 2-2/2-3 box no.606. The A1 Team France sporting director will talk about the squad’s objectives for the coming season.

In addition, a tyre change competition will be held for members of the public on 11th-12th October and 18th-19th October. The crew setting the best time will receive one entry including paddock visits and a meeting with the drivers at Brands Hatch, which hosts the final round of the 2008-09 championship.

Last but not least, the Zandvoort race will be shown live on the stand on sunday 5th at 03:00pm thanks to the agreement between A1GP and the French TV Channel NT1, which will televise all the coming season’s races. It will give all the team’s supporters the opportunity to share a collective thrill and begin the 2008-09 campaign on a high note.

Olivier Panis, A1 Team France sporting director: “We can’t wait to show our car to motor sport lovers. After displaying it in London and on the “Tour de France,” we really wanted to share our passion with the public once again and make our entry in A1GP a big popular adventure. We want everybody to come and see us!”

Richard Maroko, the AB Group programmes general manager: “We’re very happy to have the A1 Team France car on our group’s stand at the Paris Motor Show. This will enable us to give a great start to our televising of the championship, which already promises to be a hotly-disputed one. We’ll be cheering on the French team and hope we can make a successful start to the season.”
