Oakes to make Formula Master debut

at Monza

British Formula 3 International campaigner Oliver Oakes has been drafted into Vincenzo Sospiri’s Euronova Racing ahead of this weekend’s (4/5 October) Formula Master round at Monza.

The 20-year old will test the car for the first time tomorrow - before flying back to Britain to test for F3 front-runners Carlin Motorsport at Donington Park - returning to Italy to make his debut at the final round of the Master Championship.

Oakes said, “Euronova hasn’t had the strongest of seasons unfortunately, but I’m hoping to reward them with a strong result.”

Oakes faces a stern challenge as he will not only be making his debut with a new team in an unfamiliar car and category, but also because he is competing for the first time on the legendary track.

“I’ll be fine” he assures. “It’s one of the most famous circuits in history, but I’m positive it’s going to be a nice experience - although it will be a steep learning curve.”

Eurosport's coverage of the Formula Master race weekend begins on Saturday 4 October, with Race 1 shown live at 12:15 (CET) on Eurosport International and Asia Pacific.

Sunday's Race 2 will also be broadcast live on Eurosport 2 at 14:15 (CET).
