Richard Lietz and Gianluca Roda, in the Autorlando Porsche 997 RSR, won today the GTOpen race in Monza, taking their fifth win this season and, most of all, the lead in thechampionship, as rivals Montermini-Maceratesi had another zero-points day after anearly contact in the race. Maximum points today mean that Lietz-Roda have now a 9-points lead in the series on Gião-Couceiro, who today finished second to consolateScuderia Playteam. Montermini-Maceratesi lie 22 points behind, at 133. Trottet Racinggot on the podium again, this time with Pompidou-Dumbreck.
In GTS, Cioci-Pellizzato, in the fast Corvette of Twentytwo Motorsport, finish the weekendwith a double win and having virtually secured the GTS title. The Roger Ferrari ofPampló-Julià was second and the Villois Aston of Wiser-Piccolo third.
THE RACEPoleman Lietz takes a perfect start ahead of Maceratesi, Belicchi, Serra, Gião,Monfardini, Dumbreck, Bonetti and Griffin, while Aicart goes straight in the firstchicane. In lap 2, the incident that will mark the race, when Belicchi, on the secondAutorlando Porsche, misses a braking touching the Ferrari of Maceratesi, who spins.Bonetti also sees his race ruined by a spin.
While Lietz flies away at the pace of a second per lap, the battle between Gião andSerra for second animates the race, with the Portuguese resisting until the driverchange. In lap 15, after all changes, Roda has a 12” advantage on Couceiro, whilePompidou will soon emerge from the battle for third with Frezza and Chacón. Couceirocharges on the leader but Roda will have no trouble to control the situation while lastlaps also see an inspired Livio charging up until fourth place.
In GTS, the Corvette takes the lead since the start and only loses it when serving itshandicap, in favor of the Roger Ferrari of Pampló-Julià, which had emerged from thefight with the Villois Astons and the Mik Lambo of Piccini-Moncada.
