Will Bratt Spanish F3 Preview

Will Bratt has a return to the podium in his sights at Jerez this weekend, 18th/19th October, during the penultimate event of the 2008 FIAT Spanish Formula 3 Championship season. With just four races remaining in his first year of F3 action, 20-year-old Will is determined to conclude his maiden season of international competition with a flourish having already been on the podium at Spa-Francorchamps, Belgium, earlier in the campaign.Heading into rounds 14 and 15 of the season equal 10th overall in the driver standings, the Banbury racer is hoping for better fortune at Jerez after a run of bad luck recently which has blunted his charge somewhat.Scoring seventh and 10th place finishes during the previous two rounds at the Ricardo Tormo Circuit in Valencia a fortnight ago, Will raced impressively but it’s a deserved return to the top three he’s aiming for next weekend.“I tested at Jerez before the season started in the old F306 car and it went well”, said the EmiliodeVillota.com Motorsport driver, “It’s a good track, I like it a lot. With the way things have gone lately, we’ve got nothing to lose in terms of the championship so I just want to go out and win races.“I’m really enjoying driving the F308 car and I’m confident we’ll have a good time in Jerez at the weekend. Pace wise I think we’ll be fine, if we can have some better fortune then we should be on for some good results. We’ve already shown this year what we can do, we’ll just have to wait and see.”Away from Spanish F3, Will made his GP2 test debut just over a fortnight ago at the wheel of a David Price Racing car at Paul Ricard HTTT in France. Immediately impressing with his speed and adaptability to the demands of the Formula One support category, the British Racing Drivers’ Club (BRDC) Rising Star produced an exceptional performance.Returning to the weekend’s Spanish F3 races at Jerez, qualifying for the 14th round of the season will take place at 11.45 (local time) on Saturday, 18th October, with the race itself set to commence at around 15.30. Round 15 will follow on Sunday, 19th October, at 12.30; both encounters will be contested over 16 laps or to a maximum duration of 35 minutes.Provisional 2008 FIAT Spanish F3 Championship Driver Standings (after Rd13):1st Nelson Panciatici, 80pts; =10th Will Bratt & Adrian Campos Suner, 29pts
