Motors TV December Highlights

(Sky Channel 413, Virgin Media 545) V8 SUPERCARS: THE FINALE

Traditionally the V8 Supercars championship is the last to bring the curtain down on its season as it closes with the dawning of summer in the Southern Hemisphere.

This year Oran Park, a circuit just 45 minutes from the centre of Sydney, has the honour of hosting the final round. The track is short (2.2km) and has a crossover but will soon be torn down making this last race an emotional affair.

The championship race in V8 Supercars often comes down to the last round and the final two years have seen exciting title-deciding battles during the final race. Incredibly, considering there are 35 races each year with thousands of points up-for-grabs, in 2007, everything was decided in the final laps between Garth Tander and Jamie Whincup, the former defeating the latter by just two points!

As always, Motors TV switches to Australian time for this final round of the season: the race at Oran Park will be broadcast in full including qualifying and all three races, slightly delayed, to ensure fans miss nothing of the big finale in the Antipodes!

V8 Supercars – Round 14, Oran Park: Sunday 7 December from 14:30.
