GO WELL FOR TEENAGE STAR LLOYDELF Renault Clio Cup debutant Daniel Lloyd has thoroughly enjoyed his first couple of outings at the wheel of his brand new race car – the Scammonden sportsman having had his maiden run last Friday at Silverstone with an additional test Thursday, 23rd October, at Rockingham.The 16-year-old, who has already agreed a deal with Team Pyro to contest the 2009 championship, ran with the Leicestershire squad for the first time at Silverstone National Circuit last week and immediately impressed with a fault-free performance. Travelling back from his West Yorkshire home to Northamptonshire this week for his second outing in the car, the young Ginetta Junior graduate was again on top form at Rockingham’s International Super Sports Car Circuit. Lapping very consistently, Daniel delighted team boss Mark Hunt with his pace and progress throughout the day.“The two tests we’ve had so far have been great, I really enjoyed being in the car and the team is absolutely fantastic to work with”, commented Daniel, “I got into it steadily to begin with last week, we didn’t have any problems and couldn’t have wished for a better run. It was a perfect start for us.“At Rockingham yesterday we had a small problem with the car in the fourth session but the rest of the day went very well again, although it was incredibly windy. It was good to get an idea of where we are compared to an experienced Clio driver like Chris Rice who ran alongside us in another of Pyro’s cars.”Daniel added: “I’m really pleased with how everything has gone so far but we know there’s a huge amount of hard work to do over the winter to make sure we’re as competitive as possible next year. I can’t wait to get back in the car now next week!”Taking fifth position overall in the Ginetta Junior Championship this year, his first ever season of car racing action, Daniel now heads into a programme of testing over the next few months in preparation for his 2009 ELF Renault Clio Cup campaign, the category – like Ginetta Junior – part of the British Touring Car Championship support package.Next on the agenda is another run in his Team Pyro prepared Clio Cup at Croft Circuit in North Yorkshire where Daniel will run alongside competitors from the 2008 ELF Renault Clio Winter Cup on Thursday, 30th October, and Friday, 31st October.
