Midland Automobile Club Shelsley Walsh 2009 Hillclimb Dates and other MAC Events
The Midland Automobile Club announces dates for 2009 at the World Famous Shelsley Walsh Hill Climb, the oldest Motor Sport venue in the world still in use over its original course. Also included in this message are other MAC dates including those that are conditional on MAC membership.
The MAC’s 109th year of operation starts as early as 8th March when the MAC’s famous Peter Blankstone Memorial Sporting Trial will again be held at Shelsley Walsh, in the upper reaches of the car park field and the orchard field above the Church. Note: the hillclimb course is not used for this event.
Shelsley Walsh 2009
May 3rd & 4th (Sunday and Bank Holiday Monday) - The May Midlander - a round of the Midland Hillclimb Championship and the Paul Matty Lotus Championship.
May 30th and 31st - The British - a round of the MSA British Hillclimb Championship and the MSA Hillclimb Leaders Championship
July 4th & 5th - The Reg Phillips Trophy and Vintage Meetings - On Saturday, rounds of various one-make and regional hillclimb championships incorporating the coveted Reg Phillips Trophy. On Sunday, the Vintage meeting featuring a host of vintage racing and sports cars..
July 18th & 19th - The Shelsley Midsummer and Classic Meetings – On Saturday is the Midsummer Meeting. On Sunday is the Classic Meeting supported by Classic and Sports Car Magazine who are once again also featuring a Concours in the spectators & visitors car park. The whole weekend will see a competitive field of post-war Classic Racing and Sports Cars and some much older ones too!
August 15th & 16th - The Big One - The biggest Hillclimb event of the year, and since 1905 the oldest too! A round of the MSA British Hillclimb Championship and the MSA Hillclimb Leaders Championship . The fastest cars in British Hillclimbing vie for the best time of the day in two exciting Top Twelve Run-offs.
September 19th & 20th - Season Finalé at Shelsley Walsh - Two one-day meetings in our end-of-term celebration. Rounds of various one-make and regional hillclimb and speed championships including the Midland Speed Championship on Saturday and the Hillclimb & Sprint Association Championship on Sunday. .

MAC Trials 2009
18th January – The legendary Clee Hill Trial.
8th March – the MAC Peter Blankstone Memorial Sporting Trial at Shelsley Walsh, again held in the upper reaches of the car park field and the orchard field above the Church.
MAC Vintage and Classic section 2009
Sunday April 5th. - Start at The National Memorial Arboretum, Alrewas, Nr Lichfield for breakfast. Finish at Crich Tramway Museum
Sunday June 27th & 28th - Welsh Run with overnight stop.
Sunday Sept 13th - House/Garden theme. Further details to be announced later.
Note: Classic runs are open only to MAC members.
