Strong prospects for Formula BMW

Formula BMW Europe drivers can look forward to an attractive racing calendar in season 2009.

The junior race series will again feature eight events this coming year. Seven of them will be on the support programme of Formula One. To kick off the season, the young drivers will be heading for Barcelona (ES). This opening race coincides with the start of the European leg of the Formula One season, ensuring a commensurate turnout, also on the part of the media. After stop-offs at Silverstone (GB), the Nürburgring (DE) and Budapest (HU), the FBMW drivers will then head back to Spain, this time for the race on Valencia’s street circuit.

The legendary rollercoaster track of Spa- Francorchamps (BE) will be back in the calendar too, as well as Monza (IT), which concludes the European part of the season. This challenging programme opens up an attractive stage for the Formula BMW drivers, whose aim will again be to show their skills before the motor sport experts.

To get youngsters interested in Formula BMW for the future as well, BMW has also entered an interesting association. As part of a cross-promotion, BMW Motorsport will be working in partnership with the 2009 WSK International Series.

This international kart series involves not only important kart manufacturers, but also highly competitive drivers. In cooperation with BMW, outstanding talents will be selected from the WSK (Winning Series of Karting) and invited to Valencia for the annual licence course.
