Bumper start for Porsche Carrera Cup

GB seasonThe 2009 Porsche Carrera Cup GB season got off to a flying start at Autosport International at the Birmingham NEC (8-11 January), with a superb response from teams and drivers and a special award for the Carrera Cup stand.With the seventh season of the Carrera Cup GB starting at Brands Hatch over the first weekend of April, many teams and drivers used the Porsche stand at the NEC as a focal point for discussions and negotiations about the coming season.As well as many of the championship front-runners from 2008, there was a great response from potential new competitors. Several deals were concluded at the NEC and more will be finalised over the next couple of weeks. "The Carrera Cup is absolutely buzzing at the moment," said David Bartrum of Motorbase Performance, who confirmed two drivers and held meetings with several more during the course of the show.To cap a very successful event, the Carrera Cup GB stand won the accolade of 'best overall stand at Autosport International 2009'. "It was an excellent show for us and winning this award was the icing on the cake," said championship manager Marion Barnaby after receiving the award from event director Ian France.
