Gilham confirms Porsche Carrera Cup

Tony Gilham has unveiled plans to return to the Porsche Carrera Cup GB for a second season and is aiming for overall podium finishes as well as victory in the pro-am1 title. Gilham, of ReDesign Racing, has teamed up with Red Line Racing for the new season. The Kent racer joined the Carrera Cup GB for the 2008 and now plans to build on that experience. Last season he came very close to beating Nigel Rice to the pro-am1 title and believes that moving to Red Line Racing, one of the major teams in the Carrera Cup, will give him the best chance of championship success. "I want to be able to run a proper test programme," said Gilham, the former VW Racing Cup champion. "I want to mix it more at the front and I'm targeting overall podiums this year; that's certainly what I'd like to achieve."Gilham had his first test with the team at Thruxton on Friday (20 February) and was immediately confident in the car. "There's more time to come from me, but I had a time that I wanted to achieve and I did that," said Gilham after a productive test session. Further backing for Gilham's programme will come from Design 911, Regal Autosport, Itchy Feet American Motorhomes and Mansfield Property Maintenance.
