Herron Continues To Weigh-Up ..

09 Options After Brands Test

HERRON HAPPY WITH BRANDS TEST AS HE CONTINUES TO WEIGH-UP 2009 OPTIONS

Northern Ireland’s Andrew Herron made his second test outing of the year at Brands Hatch Indy Circuit in Kent earlier this week as he continues to weigh-up the possibility of returning to the ELF Renault Clio Cup for a push at the 2009 championship title.

Back at the wheel of a JHR Developments run car, the team with which he has competed since making his car racing debut two years ago, the Dromore-based racer enjoyed a full day of testing on Wednesday, 11th March, as one of almost 20 Clio Cup drivers at the 1.2-mile track.

Although faced with a couple of mechanical set-backs during the run, the 20-year-old still produced expected front-running pace as he got comfortable with both the Clio and the challenging Indy Circuit.

“I’m pleased with how things went at Brands on Wednesday, we ended up around three 10ths of a second off race pace so I’m quite happy with that”, reflected Andrew, “ The car I used was a different one to that I used at Thruxton a few weeks ago so I just drove around on old tyres and got comfortable with things.

“Unfortunately we had a problem with the steering but the team sorted that out. Without the mechanical issues we’re confident we would comfortably have found the three 10ths of a second we feel we need to be right at the front.”

As yet unsigned for the 2009 ELF Renault Clio Cup, the championship does look likely to be Andrew’s destination this year and, as such, he’ll be back out on track in a Clio during unofficially timed testing at Oulton Park in Cheshire next Tuesday, 17th March. He will also take part in a further test session at Silverstone Circuit in Northamptonshire on Friday, 20th March.
